Endorsement of Plan S

The Nordic University Association (NUS) endorses the principles of Plan S and its aim to accelerate the transition to full and immediate Open Access to scientific publications.

NUS acknowledges that the timeframe of 2020 is a challenge, not least for the individual researcher. At the same time the timeframe is, in itself, a tool for promoting change among the publishers. NUS will therefore encourage its members to facilitate processes that address concerns from the academic community and that they engage in bridging the information gap regarding the transition to open publishing.

Helsinki, 3 October 2018

The board of NUS

Helen Dannetun, Vice-Chancellor of Linköping University, Chair of NUS and the Association of Swedish Higher Education Institutions (SUHF), and Marita Hilliges, Secretary General

Per Michael Johansen, Vice-Chancellor of Aalborg University, and Jesper Langergaard, Director, Universities Denmark

Karen Spens, Rector of Hanken School of Economics, and Leena Wahlfors, Executive Director, Universities Finland (UNIFI)

Jón Atli Benediktsson, Rector of University of Iceland and Chair of the National Rectors’ Conference in Iceland, and Friðrika Þóra Harðardóttir, Secretary General

Mari Sundli Tveit, Rector of the Norwegian University of Life Sciences and President of Universities Norway, and Alf Rasmussen, Secretary General
